Frequently Asked Questions
Whether you are looking for support for a child, young adult, family member or caregiver, we are here to make your journey as smooth as possible. We look forward to hearing from you should you have additional questions or wish to learn more about our services.
What is ABA?
ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) uses evidence-based research to teach individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) skills such as social skills, foundational skills, lifestyle skills, decreasing problem behaviors, and more. ABA is the Gold Standard for Autism treatment. We use the client’s unique motivation to teach skills, capture data on those skills, and then use the findings to teach our students in the way that works best for them.
What is the typical day of the learner?
Each learner’s day will be packed full of real-life learning opportunities. Each learner’s program is unique to their needs, but will likely include all areas of skills, toileting, eating, fine and gross motor movements, peer play, social groups, and group activities. We focus largely on improvements in the natural environment to aid in life transitions.
Who delivers the services?
Our teachers are Registered Behavioral Technicians (RBT) who dedicate their time, patience, and immense energy to presenting multiple trials in all areas throughout the day. Our RBT’s are overseen by BCBA’s (Board Certified Behavior Analysts) who have obtained their master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Analysis.
How does it work?
We use data and research-based intervention methods, as well as peer reviewed journals, and textbooks to create our programs. We use tools like VBMAPP, functional communication training, job skills training, and more to practice our skills until they shine!
Is it expensive?
True Legacy Family Services is a Medicaid provider. We also accept a variety of insurance, and other funding, plans to create cost effective options for every scenario.
How do I know which program is right for me?
We understand that it can be overwhelming to figure out the best option for you or your loved one. That’s why we welcome all inquiries and are here to discuss the options that work best for your specific needs. Contact us — we are here for you!
What are my responsibilities to ensure that my insurance is billed properly?
True Legacy Family Services will ensure that all pre-authorization, assessment, and progress reports are completed and submitted before the due dates to continue ongoing therapy. You and your insurance provider may be responsible for any charges, or portions of charges which may not be covered. True Legacy Family Services will release all necessary paperwork to the client or Parent/Guardian as requested.
What if my insurance is funded through my state or county?
If your insurance is funded through the state or county, True Legacy Family Services will ensure all assessment and progress reports are completed and submitted before the due date, to continue ongoing therapy. True Legacy Family Services promises to not exceed the total funded amount without the expressed consent of the client and/or Parent/Guardian. However, if you request additional sessions above and beyond the funded amount, you will be responsible for payment of these additional services. Before beginning any additional sessions, the case manager will be notified, and a client contract will be signed with the total amount of sessions above the funded amount.
How are services for self-funded clients determined and billed for?
True Legacy Family Services and the Parent/Guardian will determine the number of ABA therapy hours per week and supervision per month, but at a minimum, the BACB requires supervision occur for 5% of hours spent providing behavior analytic services each month (or 30 minutes of supervision for every 10 hours of ABA therapy provided).
What options do you offer to your self-funded clients?
True Legacy Family Services offers two options for self-funded clients:
Option 1: Pre-Pay
If you pre-pay for monthly ABA services, you will receive a timely payment rate, which is based on the agreed amount. The following criteria must be met to qualify for the pre-pay plan:
-
A Registered Behavior Technician trained and supervised closely by the BCBA or BCaBA must conduct at least 50% of all therapy sessions.
-
Payment must be received on or before the due date as written on the invoice (within 30 days from the date of the invoice).
-
All documents must be signed and returned within 72 hours of receipt. If additional time is required, please discuss this with a True Legacy Family Services team member.
The pre-paid rate will increase to the standard hourly rate if you are unable to meet the above terms. In the case of non-compliance, you will receive an email within 48 hours and be notified of the rate increase. After one incident of non-compliance, you can return to pre-pay rates following successful payment of the three terms of standard rates. However, if payment is not received within 30 days of the due date printed on the invoice, True Legacy Family Services reserves the right to place services on hold until payment is received in full.
Option 2: Pay-As-You-Go (standard rate)
Services will be billed at the standard hourly rate. Payment must be received no later than 30 days of the invoice date (due date will be posted on the invoice). If payment is not received by the due date as stated on invoice, there will be a late charge of 1.5% of your total bill applied to your account, and True Legacy Family Services reserves the right to place services on hold until payment is received in full.
We will maintain an up-to-date fee schedule in your online account, and Parents/Guardians are given at least 60 days’ notice of any fee changes.
Time is billed in 15 minutes increments.
The terms of this agreement will continue until either party provides written notice of termination request. Termination will take place 30 days from the date of the request, and termination reports (a minimum of 4 hours billed at the BCBA/BCaBA rate) will be provided at the time of termination. If a notice of termination is not provided in writing, one week of service will be billed to you.
How will I be invoiced for services?
True Legacy Family Services will invoice families monthly. You will receive an itemized invoice, with a breakdown of the date of service, time of service, and service type. You will receive an electronic invoice on the last day of each month. Paper copies are available upon request; to receive a paper copy, please send an email to Accounts@OurTrueLegacy.org.
How do I pay my invoices?
We accept payment through our online payment portal via online banking, debit cards, Visa, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, JCB, eCheck, and Apple Pay.
What additional fees might apply to my account?
Appointments must be canceled at least 24 hours in advance. If they are not canceled with 24 hours’ notice, you will be charged a $60.00 missed appointment fee.
A late fee totaling 1.5% of the delinquent amount will be applied to unpaid invoices.
